Candido joined the Franciscan Friars Minor Conventual, taking the name Pedro, and making his novitiate in Granollers, Spain. He studied theology in Osimo, Italy, made his solemn vows as a Franciscan in Rome, Italy in 1933, and was ordained a priest in 1935. Returning to Spain, he served as superior of the Franciscan community at Granollers. Known as a model of religious life, a supporter of higher education for his brothers, and his devotion to the Eucharist, the Franciscan Rule and spirituality, and the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was arrested multiple times in the persecutions of the Spanish Civil War before finally being executed for the offense of being a priest. Martyr.
