Profile

A member of the Franciscan Friars Minor (Observants), beginning his novitiate in 1561. After studying at the University of Alcalá in Spain, he was ordained a priest. He was transferred by the Order to Rome, Italy in 1575, and was chosen bishop of Mayo, Ireland in 1576 by Pope Gregory XIII, though it took him over a year to reach his see city. He worked with Conn O’Rourke. Imprisoned, tortured and executed in the persecutions of Queen Elizabeth I.
