Feeling a call to a religious life, Fructuoso studied in seminary, but left, married María Barceló Toro, and became a Dominican tertiary in the diocese of Almería, Spain. He could play the piano and sing, and served as a cantor in the cathedral of Almería. Editor and director of the newspaper La Independencia which supported Catholic and conservative causes. Imprisoned on 28 July 1936 by the Communist supported Republican forces in the Spanish Civil War, he was murdered a few weeks later. Martyr.
