Blessed Boniface of Valperga

Born to the Italian nobility, a member of the family of the Counts of Valperga, the son of Matthew and Anna Levi Villars. He received a good Christian education at home, and from his uncle Arduino, the bishop of Turin, Italy. Benedictine monk at the abbey of Fruttuaria (modern San Benigno Canavese). Monk at the monastery of Sant Orso Collegiate of the Canons Regular in Aosta, Italy. Prior of his house c.1210. Chosen bishop of Aosta on 17 July 1219; he served for 24 years, noted for his charity, humility, care for his people and the love his people had for him.
