Bishop Edmund Audley


Priest, bishop, patron of letters. He received the degree of B.A. at Lincoln College, Oxford, England in 1463, was successively Bishop of Rochester, 7 July 1480, of Hereford, England, 22 June 1492, and of Salisbury, 10 January 1502, and was made chancellor of the Order of the Garter. Because he bestowed a benefice on Edward Powell for his book against Luther, he was complimented by Oxford University.
