Archbishop George Dowdall

Prior of the monastery of Crutched Friars at Ardee, Ireland at the time of its suppression in 1519. He was given a pension, and became the schismatical Archbishop of Armagh, Ireland. Under Queen Mary he led the Catholic party, worked to repair the injuries to religion suffered during the preceding reigns, and having renounced the schism, was appointed by the pope as the valid Archbishop of Armagh.
