Aberdeen Breviary


The Sarum Office in Scottish form, compiled by Bishop Elphinstone (14831514), who composed the lessons which, for some saints, are all nine devoted to their biographies written with great accuracy. It was printed in l507. By royal mandate it was to be used generally throughout Scotland, but it was never widely adopted and its use ceased at the overthrow of the Church in Scotland, 1560.
