- Maria Antonia of the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Born to a pious family. At age 15, due to health problems, Rachele was entrusted to the Dominican Sisters in Misilmeri, Palermo, Italy. Joined the Dominicans at age 17. Founded a school, re-built the monastery, and supervised the training of the sisters who would become teachers. Founded the Dominican Sisters of San Sisto to continue her work in Russia in hopes of re-uniting the Latin and Orthodox branches of the faith. The Sisters continue their good work today with schools and convents in Italy and throughout Latin America.
