(or Aedhan) Apostle of Northumbria; died Bamborough, England, 651. He resigned the Bishopric of Clogher to become a monk at Iona. First Bishop of Lindisfarne, he helped Oswald to convert Northumbria. Represented in art with a stag crouching at his feet. Relics at Lindisfarne. Feast, 31 August.
