(White Company) The Roman Martyrology records 300 Christians at Carthage (c.253) who hurled themselves into a vat of burning lime rather than burn incense to Jupiter. Their fame was perpetuated by Saint Augustine and the poet Prudentius. Commemorated, 24 August.
