(1195-1236) Friar Minor, born Pisa, Italy; died Oxford, England. He was sent to England by Saint Francis of Assisi to found the English Franciscan province, and his school for friars at Oxford had an important share in the development of the university. Feast, Franciscan Calendar, 7 May.
