Studied at the Pontifical Seminary in Shkodrë, Albania, then in Rome, Italy, then in France, then in Austria before developing health problems and ending his studies. Ordained a priest of the archdiocese of Shkodrë-Pult, Albania on 4 August 1919. Father Gjon opposed the government of King Zog I who discriminated against Catholics. Gjon was arrested on 26 December 1926 for this opposition, given a show trial on 2 January 1927, and sentenced to death. His Cause for Canonization as a martyr has begun.
