Born to the nobility, the son of Amorricus, he was raised in a pious family. With his brothers Thyemo and Walgerus, he founded a small wooden chapel in 1104 at spot where the Rolduc abbey would later arise. Though he was never abbot of Rolduc, he supervised it until 1111; he left to prevent an internal conflict over the severe asceticism and poverty that Ailbert thought should be part of the monastic life. Priest. Member of the Canons Regular of Saint Augustine. His Cause for Canonization has opened.
