Catholic Pocket Dictionary – alleluia


From two Hebrew words united by a hyphen, meaning “praise Jah,” or “praise the Lord.” It occurs frequently in the last fifty psalms, but nowhere else in the Old Testament, except Tobias, chapter 13.
