Book of Saints – Zacharias – 26 May

main article for Saint Zachary of VienneArticle

(Saint) Bishop, Martyr (May 26) (2nd century) Traditionally, it was believed that Saint Zachary accompanied Saint Crescentius (Crescens – 2nd Timothy 4:10), the disciple of Saint Paul, from Galatia to Gaul, and there succeeded him as Bishop of Vienne. Zachary is further said to have been stoned to death under Trajan (A.D. 106). But the whole statement is much contested. It is quite possible that both Zachary and Crescens lived and earned their canonisation at a later date.
