(Saint) Virgin Martyr (December 23) (3rd century) A Roman Virgin who, for refusing either to sacrifice to idols or to accept a heathen as husband, was stabbed to death in the persecution under Decius (A.D. 250). The Anglo-Saxon Saint Aldhelm sings the praises of Saint Victoria in one of his poems.
