(Saint) Bishop (December 14) (7th century) The Poet–Saint, author of the Passion Hymn, Pange lingua, and possibly of the Vexilla Regis. He was an Italian who settled in Gaul at the time when his own country was overrun by the Barbarians. He was in great favour with Queen Saint Radigund, and was made Bishop of Poitiers. He was a voluminous writer, both in prose and in verse. He died A.D. 609, after over forty years of Episcopate.
