(Blessed) Martyr (August 22) (16th century) An Earl of Northumberland, a virtuous nobleman, steadfast in the profession of the Catholic Faith, who, on his life being offered him on condition of his turning Protestant, preferred to lose it for Christ’s sake. He was beheaded at York, August 22, A.D. 1572.
