(Saint) Bishop (September 18) (16th century) An Augustinian Friar who became Archbishop of Valencia in Spain. Distinguished for his learning and piety, he was an eloquent and zealous preacher; but he is chiefly reverenced for his love of the poor. He spent his whole substance in alleviating their distress. He died at Valencia A.D. 1556, and has left valuable writings on Ascetic and Mystical Theology.
