(Saint) Martyr (November 9) (4th century) A Christian soldier in the Roman Army, serving in Pontus (Asia Minor), probably his native country, where he was arrested, it would seem, by order of the Emperor Maximian Herculeus. He was put to the torture and burned to death for the Faith (A.D. 306). The translation of some of his Relics to Rome has gained for him special Liturgical commemoration in the West.
