(Saint) Matron (September 17) (4th century) A Christian woman of noble birth who, during the great persecution under Diocletian, ministered to the best of her power to the needs of the Holy Martyrs, and, when able, secured honourable burial for their remains. She is believed to have passed away in Rome in A.D. 305, while the persecution was still raging.
