(Saint) Prophet (December 3) (7th century B.C.) Sophonias (Zephaniah), who is said to have been of the Tribe of Simeon, prophecied in Juda in the days of King Josias. He foretold the judgments of God upon Jerusalem; but also the ultimate conversion of the Jews. There are no reliable traditions regarding him; and Holy Scripture is silent on the subject.
