(Saint) Martyr (September 9) (4th century) An Armenian Saint, tortured to death under the Emperor Licinius (A.D. 322) after he had caused the celebrated Forty Martyrs of Sebaste to perish on a frozen lake. Saint Severianus was adjudged guilty, not only of being a Christian, but of having induced many Pagans to believe in Christ.
