(Saint) Martyr (August 20) (12th century) An Earl or chieftain of Orkney, and a warlike prince, who, in discharge of a vow, built the Cathedral of Saint Magnus at Kirkwall. He was murdered by rebels, A.D. 1158. Many and great miracles attested his sanctity.
