(Blessed) Martyr (August 22) (16th century) A native of Yorkshire, who having received priests’ Orders at Douai, laboured for four years on the English Mission. Arrested at York for preaching the Catholic Faith, sentence of death was pronounced upon him. He suffered, August 22, A.D. 1582, having passed his last moments in fervent prayer.
