(Saint) Bishop, Martyr (August 21) (3rd century) A Bishop in Gaul, whose See of Gevaudan is now that of Mende. He was a man of prayer and of very austere life. In an irruption of Barbarians from Germany he was seized by them, but was offered his life on condition of his revealing the hiding-place of his flock. On his refusal, he was beaten to death (A.D. 266).
