(Saint) Martyr (September 1) (1st century) This Saint Priscus is always described as an old disciple of Christ, and often as one of the seventy-two whom He sent forth to evangelise (Luke 10). Tradition holds that he came to Italy with Saint Peter and that he suffered death for the Faith in the reign of Nero. The place named is Capua, of which city Saint Priscus may possibly have been the first Bishop.
