(Saint) Abbot (August 20) (7th century) A French Saint, Founder of the Abbey of Jumieges, and later of that of Hermoustier, where he died (A.D. 684). He appears to have imposed on his monks the stern Rule of Saint Columbanus. Their chief work was the reclaiming of waste lands. Saint Philibert led a life of great suffering, and more than once was driven into exile by the lawless potentates of his age.
