(Blessed) Martyr (April 28) (19th century) A French priest of the Marist Order, a missionary in Oceania, who was savagely done to death by the heathen inhabitants of the island of Fotuna (April 28, A.D. 1841). His martyrdom, by a wonderful miracle, was immediately followed by the all but entire conversion of the island to Christianity.
