(Blessed) (April 26) (16th century) One of the first companions of Saint Ignatius. A German by birth, as a Jesuit, he laboured much against Protestantism in his Fatherland, and played a prominent part at the Council of Trent. He died at Friburg in Switzerland, December 21, A.D. 1597.
