(Saint) Martyr (January 21) (3rd century) A Christian of Troyes in Gaul nobly born and very rich, who, living himself an austere life of penance, had given all his goods to the poor. Summoned to answer the charge of being a Christian before (it is said) the Emperor Aurelian in person, he bravely underwent torture and death rather than deny his Master. He suffered about A.D. 274.
