(Saint) (August 30) (5th century) A Roman nobleman, the husband of Paulina, daughter of Saint Paula. He thus came into the circle of Saint Jerome, who esteemed him greatly, as we gather from the correspondence still extant. After the death of his wife, Saint Pammachius took Holy Orders and served the Church with great zeal. His Translations of Origen’s works are of considerable value. He closed his holy and useful life, A.D. 410.
