(Saint) Abbot (November 18) (10th century) A Frenchman of noble birth who renounced a canonry at Tours in order to embrace the Religious Life among the Cluniac Benedictines, then in the first fervour of their famous Reform. Elected Abbot, he by his piety and wisdom shone as a bright and shining light amid the darkness of the age in which he lived. Having rendered priceless services both to his Order and to the Church at large, he was called to his reward A.D. 940.
