(Saint) Martyr (September 8) (4th century) One of the Martyrs at Gaza in Palestine under the apostate Emperor Julian. He was quite a youth and showed himself a veritable hero in the torture-chamber. While being dragged half-dead with the others to the place of execution, outside the city walls, the crowd, moved by a sort of pity, insisted rather on his being left to die by the wayside. There, he was found by Christians and given shelter. But while being tended he expired (A.D. 362).
