(Saints) Martyrs (July 4) (2nd century) African Martyrs, so celebrated in ancient times that Saint Nampharion (the name is of Punic or Carthaginian derivation) was styled the Arch-Martyr, and reputed one of the first who suffered for the Faith in Africa (perhaps A.D. 180). Mention is made of him in the Letters of Saint Augustine.
