(Saint) Patriarch (September 4) (12th cent. B.C.) The Hebrew leader and law-giver. What we know of him we learn from the inspired text of Holy Scripture, especially from the Book of Exodus. He died at the age of one hundred and twenty years, on the borders of the Promised Land. Where he was buried no man knows. The Epistle of Saint Jude speaks of the altercation of the devil with Saint Michael concerning the body of Moses. He is one of the few Saints of the Old Law whom the Catholic Church includes by name in her Kalendars and Martyrologies.
