(Saint) (January 17) (6th century) Saint Gregory the Great says of Saint Merulus that he was always in prayer, except for the few moments he was constrained to set aside for sleep and for the taking of nourishment. The same holy Pope mentions the fact that Saint Merulus with his fellow monks, Saints Antony and John, received from Almighty God a revelation of the day and hour in which each would be called out of this world to a better life.
