Book of Saints – Maxentius


(Saint) Abbot (June 26) (6th century) Born at Agde in the South of France, he was educated by Saint Severus and by a holy priest who lived in the neighbourhood of Poitiers. He entered a monastery of which his merits, in time, caused him to be elected Abbot. He was graced with the gift of working miracles, and was famous throughout Gaul for his sanctity. He died (A.D. 518) when in his seventieth year, and his Abbey thenceforth bore his name, Saint-Maixeuil.
