Book of Saints – Mary Cleophas

Saint Mary of CleophasArticle

(Saint) (April 9) (1st century) One of the “Three Marys” who followed Our Lord from Galilee and who stood at the Foot of the Cross on Calvary. She was the wife of Cleophas or Alpheus (John 19:25), and the mother of the Apostle Saint James the Less. Some think that she was a sister of the Blessed Virgin Mary, to whom she was certainly very nearly related. There are certain legends purporting to give an account of her after-life; but they are not sufficiently well-grounded to be of use.
