Book of Saints – Marinus – 26 December

(Saint) Martyr (December 26) (3rd century) A Roman, son of a Senator, who laid down his life for Christ towards the close of the third century. It is related of him that he was miraculously freed from the horrors of the torture chamber; that the wild beasts of the Amphitheatre refused to harm him and licked his hands; and that, dragged into a temple, the idols fell shattered to the ground. He was in the end beheaded, and his body recovered and buried bv the Christians.
