(Saint) Bishop (March 10) (4th century) The 39th Patriarch of Jerusalem and a strenuous defender of the Orthodox Faith against the Arians. He was the first of the Bishops of Palestine to subscribe the Canons of the Council of Nicaoa (A.D. 325). During his Episcopate the Empress Saint Helena recovered the True Cross, and it was he who planned Constantine’s magnificent Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre. He died about A.D. 353.
