(Saint) (July 22) (17th century) An Italian Capuchin Saint, born at Brindisi, who seemed to live for no other end than to gain souls to Christ. He travelled over nearly the whole of Europe, converting thousands of unbelievers and drawing countless sinners to repentance. He died at Lisbon, A.D. 1619, and was canonised by Pope Leo XIII (A.D. 1881).
