Book of Saints – Julian Sabas the Elder

(Saint) (January 14) (4th century) A celebrated Syrian Solitary who did much to encourage the Christians when persecuted by Julian the Apostate, and the Catholics in their conflict with the Arians. Saint John Chrysostom has left us a magnificent panegyric of Saint Julian, whose merits are similarly enlarged upon by Theodoret. This Saint Julian is probably identical with the Saint of the same name commemorated in the Roman Martyrology on October 18. He died before A.D. 380.
