Book of Saints – Hormisdas


(Saint) Martyr (August 8) (5th century) An officer of high birth, son of the Governor of one of the Provinces of Persia. On his refusing to apostatise, King Varannes deprived him of his possessions and of his very garments, degrading him to the occupation of camel-driver. He ended his life of wearisome toil about A.D. 420.
