Book of Saints – Hildegund

(Saint) Widow (February 6) (12th century) A noble lady in Germany who in her widowhood entered with her daughter the Order of the Premonstratensians and founded the monastery of Mehren, of which she was the first Abbess. Her wonderful gift of prayer, her lowliness of spirit, her patience and her love of the poor, led to her being venerated as a Saint from the day of her death (A.D. 1118).
