Book of Saints – Hermias

(Saint) Martyr (May 31) (2nd century) A veteran soldier who suffered a cruel martyrdom at Comana in Cappadocia 134 (not in Pontus, as Baronius thought) under Marcus Aurelius, about A.D. 170. As not unfrequently happened, the courage displayed by Saint Hermias inspired some of his executioners to become Christians. He has a prominent place in the Greek Liturgy.
