(Saint) Martyr (December 31) (3rd century) A cleric, of the rank of the Exorcists, who is believed to have suffered martyrdom in the persecution set on foot by the Emperor Aurelian (A.D. 270-275). Some say that Saint Hermes was put to death while with the army on the banks of the Danube; others assign Bologna as his place of martyrdom.
