Book of Saints – Glaphyra


(Saint) Virgin (January 13) (4th century) A Christian maiden in the service of Constantia, wife of the Emperor Licinius, who, to escape the unlawful attentions of her master, fled to the Bishop of the place (Saint Basil of Amasea in Pontus), was pursued, captured and sentenced to death. Some say that the sentence was executed, others that she again escaped and passed away in peace, about A.D. 324.
