(Saint) Abbot (March 10) (8th century) One of the English monks who accompanied Saint Colman on his retirement (A.D. 664) from Northumbria to Ireland, on occasion of the dispute about the date of Easter. In Mayo, Saint Colman placed Saint Gerald at the head of the English House founded by him, which is said to have been the nursery of over one hundred Saints, A.D. 732 is given as the year of Saint Gerald’s death, at a very advanced age.
