(Saint) Martyr (August 25) (4th century) A Notary of Arles in Southern Gaul, who, having refused to put on record the Imperial Edicts of persecution, and declared that he himself believed in Christ, was seized and beheaded under Maximian Herculeus in the beginning of the fourth century, thus receiving the Baptism, not of water, but of blood.
